This set of 5 small icons is a small project that is very close to my heart. Not because of the mastery of design (I would definitely improve a lot of details) but what it meant to me as a professional, working with a startup for the first time.
When I joined the Doist team, there was a new system in the works to help users keep on track with their tasks, the Karma system. It was already decided that there would be a determined number of karma levels and the user would progress as he completed tasks. Now they needed a representation for those levels (military-like ranks and medals were some of the possibilities). I was still the "new guy", learning about all the products and meeting the people. But I had an idea.

To me, the Karma system should represent something more spiritual and convey a sense of evolution, so after some research and some quickly drawn icons of a blossoming lotus, I shared my idea with the team.
The idea was welcomed and in a few hours, it was already being used in development. This was completely new to me, coming from a more traditional set of companies where everything would take a lot of time or even where new ideas were not welcome at all.

Final set for the first release of the Karma system.
